About Rightswire
Background
Rightswire is an online initiative to broaden exposure to independent media coverage of human rights in the United States. Rightswire’s community of editors and volunteers search the Web to find, collect, and aggregate the latest news and information about the human rights issues we face as a nation and the people, projects, and organizations that are currently addressing them. For the American human rights community, Rightswire creates awareness of new initiatives, effective advocacy strategies, and potential allies and partners. For the American public, Rightswire provides information about human rights issues that affect all of us, opening a doorway to civic engagement that strengthens our democracy and protects our freedoms.
Rightswire, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Brooklyn, New York. The organization was founded in September 2007 by Jeffrey Henigson, a social entrepreneur with an extensive background in using technology for progressive causes.
Rightswire depends upon public donations to continue providing the latest information about human rights in the United States. Please consider supporting Rightswire by making a donation or other contribution to the project. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the law.
